Comments:

Fine singers in a selection of favorite songs. Not as lulling as I had expected, partially due to unexpected guitar sounds from Ethan Johns. Rosanne Cash's "Western Wall" is perhaps my favorite song, and they more than do it justice here, as with Sinéad O'Connor's "This Is to Mother You" and Leonard Cohen's "Sisters of Mercy". I just love Emmylou Harris. I think of this album as being not my favorite of her projects, yet whenever I actually pull it out and listen to it I am pleasantly surprised. It's really quite beautiful, especially "Western Wall" and "1917." (JoAnn Whetsell)
