Comments:

The wailing guitar at the start of this EP sets the tone for this hard-rocking set of songs. Singer Sharon Giarrantano has a voice equal to the retro hard-70s rock setting of the first two tracks. The third, "13 Years," mixes a slightly lighter rock verse with a harder chorus, which somehow has the effect of a more indie rock sound, somewhat like Mary's Danish and Veruca Salt. The lyrics are definitely informed by the Riot Grrl movement. The title track, probably my favourite here, is distinctively mournful and her vocals and lyrics are front and center. Overall, an intriguing beginning, especially for fans of 70s rock who want to hear that sound updated. (sophiagurley@hotmail.com)
