Betty BooCountry of origin:England (though artist is of Scottish and Malaysian heritage) Type of music generally:Mainstream pop dance music, shading marginally into rap. (mapravat@prairienet.org) Status:Most recent release, Doin' the Do: the Best of Betty Boo (compilation, 1999) See also:Betty Boo's MySpace page Comparisons:Deelite Covers/own material:Own General comments:I listened to this one when I got it on spec a couple of years ago, allowed a pile of later acquisitions to grow over it, and have never felt any great urgency about fishing it out :-). The music and lyrics, as best I remember them, are not the worst of their kind, nor the best. However, I doubt that either this or her second album, the name of which I didn't bother to note when I stumbled on it in a record-store bin, will be of much interest to ectophiles who don't maintain an independent interest in the interface between dance music and rap. Recommended first album:Boomania Recordings:
