General comments:

Stephanie Briggs has a lively folk/pop/rock style with a delightful sense of play and energy. She has a strong, smooth vocal style, ranging from yells to whispers and every once in a while her style is a dead ringer for Ani DiFranco. Her range is different from Ani DiFranco's, though, as is her sensibility: strong eclectic and indie feel with a wry touch. (sophiagurley@hotmail.com)

Comments:

A bright album, with playful touches. "Sure Thing" feels very Ani DiFranco-like, but there's more to this album than that. It's layered in such a way that the songs feel like they open up as you listen. While mostly upbeat, the songs have depths (both musically and thematically) and intriguing edges. Just when you think the music is veering towards something predictably mainstream, it takes a turn for the interesting. Stephanie Briggs is a talent to watch out for. (sophiagurley@hotmail.com)
