DudleyCountry of origin:U.S. Type of music generally:Quirky folk-tinged alternative pop Status:Most recent release, Doin' Jack, 1998 See also:Household Ink's Dudley page Comparisons:There' something very early Jane Siberry-like about Ellen Turner's style Covers/own material:Own General comments:Ellen Turner's voice is a dead ringer for Jane Siberry, and many of the songs remind me strongly of Siberry's early quirky folky work. All of the albums are a little uneven but there are gems on each one. The songs are mostly low-key, focusing on Turner's appealing vocal performance and lyrics. My favourites here are "Her Own Nightmare" and "Maybe It's Time"—their intriguing melody lines and lyrics really stick in my mind.
