Comments:

Felonious Bosch make modernized folk music. They do their own songs, traditional songs and even a Black Sabbath cover. Their irreverent attitude towards folk is reminiscent of the great Bellowhead. "Drunken Brawl" with its sound effects of breaking bottles and boisterous tempo is great fun. They are based in the U.S., but their folk sound is rooted in the European tradition and they make that work. The Black Sabbath song fits in well with the other numbers, a sure sign of a gifted band, who know how to pick covers. The Romanian number "Deep Blue" gets rendered well and is played with gusto. This band is worth discovering. (stjarnell@yahoo.com)

Comments:

Felonius Bosch continues their irreverent and appealing journey into folk music. Katy Thomasberg still has one of the finest voices I've heard and the songs are great. "F.L.T" is a surprisingly funky and marvelously limber song. "Name in vain" is more folksy and has a gorgeously played backdrop for Thomasberg to emote against. "Las Velas" is a lovely tune with a strong mood that they handle well. It's a fabulous album. (stjarnell@yahoo.com)
