Heavy & LightRelease info:2002—self-released—69104592972 Availability:Unknown Ecto priority:Recommended Group members:Amy Bruckmeier—vocals, guitar Guest artists:Justin Dobrin—keyboards Produced by:Dave Tweedie Comments:It's an album of likeable and spacey songs by a talented singer. Amy B steers the songs away from clichés and gets a languid feeling to them. "Bruises" is slightly like Morcheeba when they were good. "Suede Pumas" is a relaxed song that shows off the singer's voice well. "Nature Walk" is darker and has a pop heart beneath its heavy beats. FlowersRelease info:2008—Strawberry Canyon Records—SCR 003 Availability:Unknown Ecto priority:Recommended Group members:Amy Bruckmeier—vocals, guitar Produced by:Jim Greer, co-produced by Amy Bruckmeier & Justus Dobrin Comments:This album continues the sound that Amy B used on her previous album. It's still as likeable and laid back with some cool songs that make for a pleasant listen. The mid-tempo gem "Roll the dice" is a standout, with a pop melody that's instantly memorable. "Puppet on a string" sees the vocals dreamily skirt across the tune. The song acquires a nicely jazzy sound as it progresses. For "Kites" they softly manage a sweetly familiar and accessible sound. It's an album that can easily appeal to many. (stjarnell@yahoo.com); Thanks to stjarnell@yahoo.com for work on this entry.
