Covers/own material:Own General comments:Jennifer Lauren has a rich, nuanced voice and her songs have an energetic, slight country-flavoured intonation. Her sound is acoustic and clean, the musicianship strong. (sophiagurley@hotmail.com) Recommended first album:passing perceptions is her only known release Recordings:passing perceptions (2005) passing perceptionsRelease info:2005—JL001 Availability:See CD Baby's Jennifer Lauren page Ecto priority:Recommended for any fans of rootsy pop Group members:Jennifer Lauren—vocals, acoustic guitar, piano Guest artists:Simon Fisk—stand-up bass Produced by:Jennifer Lauren Comments:While it treads a familiar singer-songwriter path, this album has a rootsy vibe and verve that help it rise above the pack. Both the songwriting and singing have a delightful energy. The first track, the breezy "Conversation in the Dark", is a lively introduction to the album and clearly the first single. Songs like "Secret Power", "Seesaw", and "It's Aint' the End" in particular are immediately recognizable, yet fresh. Highly recommended for fans of country-flavoured pop.
