See also:A Utah Phillips page Comparisons:Woody Guthrie Covers/own material:Own General comments:Utah Phillips has a solo career as a very American folksinger in the tradition of Woody Guthrie, and Ani DiFranco has one as a highly individual punk/folk singer. They made this album together on Ani DiFranco's Righteous Babe label. Recommended first album:The Past Didn't Go Anywhere Recordings:
The Past Didn't Go AnywhereRelease info:1996—Righteous Babe Records—RBR009-D Availability:Available at hipper stores and from Righteous Babe Ecto priority:For lovers of traditional American folk. Note: not necessarily for fans of Ani DiFranco's work Group members:Utah Phillips Comments:All I can say about the Ani/Utah Phillips CD is that I got rid of my copy quite soon after I purchased it. I know that I didn't give it enough time, but on first listen it seemed to be nearly all Utah's singing...maybe Ani's music, but definitely *not* enough Ani for me to keep it.
