The Surface and the ShineRelease info:2007—Electric Devil Records—EDR DCLXVII Availability:See Shalini's site Ecto priority:Recommended Group members:Shalini—vocals, lead guitar, guitar, 12-string bass Guest artists:Paul Chastain—bass Produced by:Mitchell Blake Easter Comments:Shalini Chatterjee aided by Mitch Easter and others makes bright, shiny and hummable pop on this record. She's really got some great songs, which makes it a good listen. The title song is an instant hit, easy to sing along to and with a nice tune. "White widow" is catchy and utterly wonderful. Shalini's record sounds like a lot of other things but all of them are so good that it doesn't matter. (stjarnell@yahoo.com) Thanks to stjarnell@yahoo.com for work on this entry.
