SilvermanCountry of origin:England Type of music generally:Alternative pop, with bits of ethereal/ectronica thrown in. Status:Most recent release, Onno (2016) See also:Silverman's site Comparisons:An upbeat Portishead or a toned-down Joydrop? They're much more pop than either of these groups, but some of their songs have the same general feel. (eperkins@surfbest.net) Covers/own material:Own General comments:I had high hopes at the beginning of the first song and even gave the whole thing two or three listens, but I finally decided that this is one of those has-potential-but-doesn't-do-it-for-me groups. Some songs have a bit of a Portishead/Joydrop-ish feel, though strangely, one song also brought to mind an Erasure song. The lead singer has a nice, smooth voice, and I really like a couple of the songs, but overall the music lacks the little "something" it would need to stand out for me. That said, I could see someone really liking this group. And I might have been a bit biased because the sampler disc I have kept skipping in my player...anyway, they're worth checking out. (eperkins@surfbest.net) Recommended first album:All we've heard so far is a demo which has songs from both Archangel and Star. Recordings:
