Comments:

Mindy Smith's debut has gotten praise from many corners and it's not hard to see why. She has a fresh approach to Americana. She has a clear Christian belief but is not too preachy. "Come to Jesus" is pretty and engaging. "Raggedy Ann" is a picture of a poor girl that echoes Dolly Parton's "Coat of many colors". The hidden track is a cover of "Jolene" that seems apt. A nice debut in all. (stjarnell@yahoo.com)

Comments:

Mindy Smith follows her debut with an equally solid new record. Her girlish voice and songs resonate as well as ever. She doesn't do anything very novel, but she has a firm grasp of her craft. "Little Devil" is humorous and sweet. The simple but effective "Tennesse" is clear as a bell and lovely as can be, a duet with Buddy Miller is brilliant too. Smith sounds like she's here to stay. Comments:

A lovely, low-key collection of folk-country originals, traditionals, and modern covers. I really like her gentle version of "Away in a Manger," but the best songs on the album are the new ones, particularly those Mindy penned herself or co-wrote (5 of the 11 tracks). (JoAnn Whetsell)

Comments:

Solid vocals and musicianship, but I get bored halfway through. The album does rebound with the last two songs, however. (JoAnn Whetsell)
