Commentator Bio Submission Guidelines

PLEASE NOTE

There seems to be some confusion surrounding the submission of commentator bios, as we have received several now from people who are not actually commentators in the guide.

These bios are meant as a way for people whose comments currently appear on one or more artist pages in the guide to give some idea of their musical tastes and preferences to other guide users, hopefully to aid those users in tracking down music they might like by deciding whether or not a particular commentator might have tastes similar to or dissimilar from their own.

If you are not sure whether or not you are currently a commentator in the guide, check for your email address or name in the commentators section. If it does not appear there, you are not currently a guide commentator.

Comments are not solicited from people at large, but are culled from the archives of the ecto mailing list. To find out more about the list, please visit the ecto home page.

If you are not currently listed in the guide, please do not submit a bio, as we will have nowhere to place it on the site.

If you are an ectophile and are currently listed as a commentator in the Guide, you may now submit a personal bio, which will be displayed next to the list of artists you've commented on, in the commentators section of the site.

In the bio you can talk about pretty much anything, but the focus should be your musical tastes and favourite artists (or those you love to hate), in keeping with the focus of the Guide.

You can include limited HTML coding, including links to your own homepage. Fancy layout that clashes with the look of the Guide, however, is discouraged. One or two small images may be allowed at the discretion of Neile and Damon.

Bios can be typed or pasted into the Guide contact form, or emailed to ectoguide@smoe.org directly. Don't forget to include your name, as well as what you're known by (usually your email address) in the commentators section.

If there is any demand, we may also include a form on this page that you can fill out to produce a cookie-cutter bio for yourself (which could then be tailored if you preferred). Please let us know if you'd like to see this feature added.
