My Brilliant BeastCountry of origin:Canada Type of music generally:Ethereal alternative pop Status:Band members seem to have moved on to other projects See also:Wikipedia's entry on founding member Jonathan Gallivan Comparisons:A more electronic Bel Canto, a dancier, earthier, more melody-based Cocteau Twins? Hex or An April March with a heavier beat and more hooks? Laika? (Neile) Covers/own material:Own, occasional covers General comments:Is this dance music? Not quite. Cocteau-ish? A little. Beautiful and beastly and ear candy, and a very promising start. They have a new disc in the works and it the few things they've released so far are any indication it will be well worth tracking down. More! I want more! Well, I find myself listening to this single, which has 3 remixes of the title track (plus two other songs) again and again. What's wrong with me? Well, it's not what's wrong with me but what's right with this band—damn catchy music which is great boppy anytime music, whether you want to listen closely and catch all the nuances or if you want something lively in the background.
