Happy Rhodes—promo singlesThe promo singles:
HR 5 (radio promo)Release info:1993—Aural Gratification—AGCD5020 [CD] Availability:Radio promotion disk, never commercially available, now out of print Ecto priority:Collector's item; the songs themselves were later available on the Rhodesongs compilation. (ectophil@netlink.co.nz) Group members:Happy Rhodes Produced by:Kevin Bartlett and Happy Rhodes Comments:The CD is fantastic. I must admit that I've never been that crazy about "Feed the Fire"; it's one of my least favorite tunes on Warpaint. But the acoustic tribute version is phenomenal. "Save Our Souls" is going to take some getting used to. "Ashes to Ashes" is great. (burka@jeffrey.net) Hold Me (aka "Glory promo")Release info:1995—Aural Gratification—AGCD4022 [CD] Availability:Radio promotion disk, not commercially available, and now out-of-print Ecto priority:Low. "Hold Me" is straight from Building The Colossus, and the version of "Look For The Child" is the same as the one later released on The Keep. The other two tracks are only available on this disc, however the radio edit of "Glory" isn't a great deal different to the album cut, and there is an acoustic version of "Collective Heart" on The Keep. (ectophil@netlink.co.nz) Group members:Happy Rhodes Produced by:Kevin Bartlett and Happy Rhodes Comments:"hold me": well, no big surprises here. the album version. an excellent song, of course :) "glory (radio mix)": hmmm...more or less what i expected; "glory" without the length. a few interesting changes though. "collective heart" and "look for the child" (acoustic versions): ok, here's what makes the thing worth the price tag :) these two just happen to be probably my single favourite songs off their respective albums, so i'm pleased to see them here. i think i like the original versions best (i guess i am somewhat more partial to electronic-ey music than pure acoustic), but nonetheless, these are wonderful! somehow happy's voice comes more into the foreground in these versions, and it's lovely to hear some of her vocal harmonies up front. yay! glad i got a copy! (damon) Roy (radio promo)Release info:1998—Samson Music—GC01431 Availability:Radio promotion disk, not commercially available Ecto priority:Low. "Roy" is straight from Many World Are Born Tonight Group members:Happy Rhodes Guest artists:Rob Taylor—violin Produced by:Happy Rhodes Comments:The disc has the CD mix and a 4'34" radio edit mix of "Roy".
