Katiana PariahCountry of origin:Cyprus/U.S. Type of music generally:ExperimentalExperimental with cabaret touches Status:Most recent release, The Suicide Bride, 2003 See also:No web presence as yet Comparisons:Diamanda Galas, Jill Tracy Covers/own material:Co-written General comments:Dark, but very compelling stuff. Not for everyone, but lovers of the genre will be thrilled. (stjarnell@yahoo.com) Recommended first album:The Suicide Bride is her solo debut Recordings:The Suicide Bride The Suicide BrideRelease info:2003--self-released Availability:Email KatianaPariah@yahoo.com for information Ecto priority:Essential if you like the genre. Group members:Katiana Pariah--vocals Guest artists:Dana Nero--music Comments:The deep-voiced Katiana Pariah is every inch the leftfield diva. She makes music that will thrill those that are into Diamanda Galas and Jill Tracy. She has the cabaret touches in common with Tracy. These seven songs are all excellent, but hardly an easy listen. They are like the more scaled down recordings of Galas, with focus on the astonishing vocals. As a debut it's very accomplished and I hope to hear more of her.
