General comments:

Dish was an alterna pop/rock band that Dana Kletter was the (main) lead singer for. They had a song, "Headlights", on a CMJ compilation that in addition to knowing she'd been part of the blackgirls led me to pick up their full-length disc, Boneyard Beach. Well, that song was great but the rest of the album was forgettable and blandly pretty except for Dana Kletter's great voice. I hardly ever played it. But later a friend played me an ep that I liked a lot and I later found a copy of it. That one was called Mabel Sagittarius—lots more edgy, energetic, and blackgirls-like. I love it. But only 5 songs! (Neile)

Comments:

Yes, I bought this on the basis of hearing a cut on the CMJ sampler. I would say that it makes me miss the blackgirls even more than I already did. Dana Kletter trades off and shares the songwriting and lead vocals with Bo Taylor. Generally the songwriting is weaker than the blackgirls, but of course, Dana Kletter's voice is just as wonderful as ever. I still like "Headlights" a lot, but the rest doesn't do all that much for me. (Neile)
