General comments:

Those who have a greater tolerance of pop than some ectophiles might want to check out Vanessa Carlton. We caught her video for "A Thousand Miles". It's very mainstream pop, catchy, clichéd, and a nicely constructed song. She has a really catchy piano riff as the main musical theme of the song. Her voice is sounds really young though not quite babyish.
At first I didn't like it at all but got curious and looked her up on the web, and then played the real audio of the song again and grew to like it quite a bit. I suspect I'll get tired of it eventually, but it's so nice to hear something in MTV's mainstream that I like. I think I like the other brief track offered on her website, "Red Ditty," even better than the single.
There were a couple of moments in the "A Thousand Miles" song where vocally she reminded me a bit of Christine Fellows.
The album is all pop, all the time. (Neile)

I was somewhat impressed compared to most of what seems to be out there on MTV. (burka@jeffrey.net)

This album didn't stick with me, but I still like "A Thousand Miles" and her cover of the Stones' "Paint It Black" shows that she could really rock tough if she wanted to. (Neile)
