JoAnn WhetsellHi! I'm JoAnn, a 1976-born Libra and alumna of Oberlin College, a school which has graduated such ecto luminaries as Emily Bezar and Liz Phair. I'm a writer (currently at work on my first novel), an avid reader, an even more avid music collector, amateur classical pianist, and fledgling mandolin player. Vegetarian chef extraordinaire too. :)
In my musical pantheon (in no particular order): Tori Amos, Jane Siberry, Veda Hille, Sheila Chandra, Laura Nyro.
I enjoy folk, pop/rock, ethereal and all sorts of world music, especially the combination of traditional music and modern stylings. I'm particularly fond of the beautiful and fierce, the quirky, the Canadian. And I have a serious weakness for Hershey's kisses with almonds.
Favorite writers: Isabel Allende (Chile); Jeanette Winterson (England); Rosario Ferré (Puerto Rico); Amos Oz (Israel), Carole Maso (USA).
I hope someday I will inspire people the way so many musicians and writers have inspired me.
Check out Real World, CD Roots and Northside Records and the Rough Guide music series for really cool music. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to talk about music or anything else.
