General comments:

The lead singer sounds a little like Natalie Merchant—she has the same kind of throaty quality to her voice, but I like Suzy Callahan's voice a little better, and certainly like this music better than Natalie Merchant's solo work or post-Natalie Merchant 10,000 Maniacs. Devils Wielding Scimitars III especially compares with the best of 10,000 Maniacs. Great pop and highly recommended. (Neile)

Recommended first album:

Either, though I prefer Devils Wielding Scimitars III more rocky sound.

Comments:

I love Suzy Callahan's voice and played this so much the first week I had it that I started getting sarcastic comments from the person who tries to share a house with me. Gradually I started to get tired of all but two songs, which I still feel as though I could listen to forever: "Did You Lie?" and "Talk To Her Sister", and you know, now after only letting it rest a week I'm enjoying the rest of them again. I suspect I'll be liking this one for a long time. This is more driving rock-sounding than Worry Dolls, a little more urgent-sounding, which makes me like it correspondingly more and find it more catchy. (Neile)
