General comments:

Fallulah is basically Marie Apetri and her band, who do pop rock lead by with Apetri's impressive, empassioned, powerful voice a la Florence and the Machine. Vocalist Marie Apetri sings with verve and a touch of bluesy rasp, and her vocals are certainly the star of the show. (sophiagurley@hotmail.com)

Comments:

This is a strong, well-constructed, and varied collection of pop/rock songs, bouncy and catchy from the very first moment. "Hey You" and "I Lay my Head" reminds me so much of Rainbirds and Splashdown, both in overall song structure and the vocals. The song that I can't resist is the poppy, energetic "Bridges" with its tantalizing and strange section where the vocals slide off beat in the middle of the song—it messes with my head (in a good way) each time I hear it. (sophiagurley@hotmail.com)

Discovering albums like this is what I love best about the Ectoguide. This is pop music at its best—inventive and engaging. I hear resemblances to Florence and the Machine, as many have pointed out, but also Camille, and occasionally Adele ("Out of It") and, vocally, Nicole Atkins ("Use It for Good"). I look forward to hearing where this artist goes in the future. (JoAnn Whetsell)

I love the incredibly catch title track ("Social Club" and "Bob Dylan" are also pretty good), but overall I don't enjoy this album as much as her first two. (JoAnn Whetsell)
