Comparisons:

This is a tough one. Anhai? Miranda Sex Garden? Definitely mimi goese. Her bio materials mention Kate Bush, The Residents, Mary Margaret O'Hara, PJ Harvey, Patti Smith and Meredith Monk. A CMJ review mentions Hugo Largo and Kristin Hersh. (Neile)

Covers/own material:

Own, occasional covers

General comments:

Rough, off-beat, tilty tunes that have their own coherence. They have dissonant moments, but are not unmelodic. Very different. I definitely see the mentioned comparisons to mimi goese. (Neile)

Comments about live performance:

i was pretty surprised by rebecca when i saw her live. i was kinda skeptical at first, but found myself rather enjoying her slow, melancholy music. the songs tended towards the long end of the length spectrum, which gave each time to evolve nicely. her guitar playing was reminiscent of (ready?) hahn rowe's violin playing (he's the guy who played violin for hugo largo). what's more, rebecca's singing reminded me of mimi goese. (woj@smoe.org)

We saw her live and she was way cool. She performed with a cellist/backing vocalist and herself on guitar. I thought she was pretty neat. Very dark, gothic (in the traditional sense), stormy-night-in-late-October music. (meth@smoe.org)

Comments:

Experimental? Kinda. She manages to be both experimental-ish and ear-catchy. Definitely interesting, but I wish she didn't also sound so consistently...querelous? Something in the tone, anyway, that I wish she'd varied a bit more over the course of the album, but the music is definitely different and intriguing. Highly recommended to everyone who likes the off-beat. (Neile)

Comments:

Like her first disc, this is an odd collection of noises and songs that take a while to cohere in the mind, but the more I listen to this, the more I hear and the more I like its odd take on melody and song. This is a little more varied in tone than Admiral Charcoal's Song and is growing on me just as strongly. (Neile)
