General comments:

If you enjoy Gillian Welch, you would probably like Georgette's singing. Less commercial work than most of what Joan Baez has done. Because of the strong instrumental work, almost a new branch on the folk tree. For the folk, as opposed to folkie purist. (world@oz.net)

Comments:

No sex, drugs, rock 'n roll here! A unique contemporary folk, soprano voice, with a driving vibrato, the debut album of Georgette Dashiell exhibits strong guitar work by Georgette and accompanying musicians. The CD tends to overwhelm the senses on a first listening. Georgette performs with a range of subtlety, enfolded in a strong delivery, that emerges best with repeated listening. Songs about loneliness, remorse, searching, pain, happiness, driven yet unbroken souls, the passage of time, simplicity and ultimate redemption.. it's all there, if you take the time to listen.
The lack of more standard rock or country/rock melodic hooks, and the additional lack of more traditional ballad forms, leads me to classify Georgette's music as contemporary/modern folk. (world@oz.net)
