This album is a kind of supergroup of Scottish contemporary/traditional musicians and singers with the best known (and guiding force of the gathering) being Dick Gaughan. Vocals trade off between the members. Their material ranges from traditional jigs and reels and songs to contemporary protest folk. The voices are strong, the songwriting is good. (Neile)

I should have liked this more, but I guess it goes to show how particular my tastes are in traditional folk music. This album is a kind of supergroup of Scottish traditional musicians and singers, but basically I find it uninspiring. I wanted it badly when I heard of it and heard discussion of it on a couple of celtic folk lists, but I don't love it and rarely play it. I expected something more, though I'm not sure what that more is. (Neile)
