Jeanne T. ArrigoCountry of origin:U.S. Type of music generally:Contemporary folk/pop Status:Most recent release, Favorite Hymns (live, 2CD set, 2008); most recent studio release, The Journey's about to begin... (2005) See also:Jeanne T. Arrigo's site Comparisons:Joni Mitchell, Jill Cohn, Shawn Colvin, Jonatha Brooke, Indigo Girls Covers/own material:Own General comments:Jeanne T. Arrigo is a singer songwriter very much in the Joni Mitchell vein. Unlike so many others who allow this path, she has both a strong, expressive voice and a strong, expressive guitar style. Her songwriting matches these, and the combination is a powerful, highly listenable whole. (sophiagurley@hotmail.com) Recommended first album:Five Songs ep is the only release we've heard Recordings:
Five Songs epRelease info:2004—Arrigoberry Records Availability:No longer in print— see Jeanne T. Arrigo's site for into on the full album version, The Journey's about to begin... Ecto priority:Highly recommended for contemporary folk/pop fans Group members:Jeanne T. Arrigo—vocals, acoustic guitar, percussion, keyboard (Rhodes, strings, bass) Guest artists:Marc Giannettino—piano on 1 track, acoustic lead on 1 track, saxophone on 1 track Produced by:Jeanne T. Arrigo, with Jim Reeves Comments:This five-song debut ep is a harbinger of great things to come. Jeanne T. Arrigo shows off her great vocal, guitar, and songwriting chops so well it's hard to believe this is a debut. All five songs here appear on the first full-length, The Journey's about to begin..., which I would highly recommend on this basis alone. Heads up, folk/pop fans—you will love this. Everything about this is so well-done, and the songs will take you on a emotional journey well worth taking. Give her music a try—you won't regret it.
