Country of origin:
Type of music generally:
Most recent release, Caught Laughing (2006/7)
Kind of a 4AD bands/Stina Nordenstam cross or Julee Cruise meets shoegaze. Think Drugstore, Slowdive, Cranes.
Dream pop in the extreme. Mellow, childish, sometimes alsmost monotone (but charming) half-whispered vocals over driving riffs and rhythms. (email@example.com)
Recommended first album:
leave me out of this is the only one we've heard
2003 foundling FOU005

Highly recommended for dream pop fans
Adam, Jude, Emma, Gregg, and Anne
The singer, Anne, half whispers, half sings, half talks. What? Three halves? That's kind of what this music is like. There's a definite Julee Cruise feel to the vocals and a definite shoegazer feel to the music and songwriting. My own real complaint is that it's a little repetitive. The packaging is glorious and it alone is worth the price of admission, all fairy light, colorful beads, and dark glossiness. Hmm. That rather describes the music as well.
