Comments:

In this intriguing album, Talking Pictures, Robin Holcomb, and Wayne Horvitz collaborate to play mostly Robin Holcomb's music, some Talking Pictures compositions, and a cover of Neil Young's "After The Gold Rush." Bringing in both structured songs and more experimental compositions and improvisations, the album makes an organic connection between these normally disparate types of music. It is highly rewarding listening, full of details that help the listener focus on individual moments as well as the flow of the work. As a fan of vocals, I enjoy the songs more than the tunes, but this colloboration definitely helps me appreciate the artistry of the instrumental compositions and especially the improvisations. This album is a wonderfully rewarding listening experience which expanded my musical horizons. Highly recommended for adventurous listeners. (Neile)
