(2009) I...um...Release info:2009—Akashic Records Availability:Unknown Ecto priority:Highly recommended Group members:Lou Cowell—vocals, piano Guest artists:Unlisted Comments:Lou Cowell's debut feels just right, though she does nothing that's really new. She just sings her pensive songs in a soft voice, evoking other singers but being herself. "Just like me" is soft yet has a sting in its delivery. Cowell's vocals are gorgeous and the melody supple. "Lonely little Hurricane" has a neat tune and Cowell's dreamy vocal suits it fine. "I Believe" is a well-written wistful song with some great passages. Cowell has a knack for writing songs just like it. Her album's pretty much perfect. (stjarnell@yahoo.com) Thanks to stjarnell@yahoo.com for work on this entry.
