Comments about live performance:I arrived at the main stage on Sunday at the announced start time for Alice Peacock's set as the opening act for Elvis Costello, but she, too, had already started. She is a rocker, and a good one. Her lyrics seem more complex, or at least less high concept, than Sheryl Crow's. She plays both guitar and keyboards, and performed a fair number of covers along with her original material. My brief introduction to Peacock can be summed up by paraphrasing the old Remington shaver commercials: I was so impressed, I bought her CD on the way home. (valrichardson@igc.org) Who I AmRelease info:2006—Universal Records—B0006864-02 DG02 Availability:Wide Ecto priority:Highly recommended Group members:Alice Peacock—vocals, acoustic guitar, piano, Wurlitzer Guest artists:Andrew Williams—electric and acoustic guitars, 12 string electric and acoustic guitar, piano, horn and string arrangements, background vocal Produced by:Andrew Williams Comments:I loved "Alabama Boy," the opening track on her self-titled album a few years back, but wasn't that impressed with the album overall. Who I Am has a similar folk-pop vibe but speaks far better to her talent. (JoAnn Whetsell) Further info:The City Sessions Los Angeles Featuring Alice Peacock DVD was released in 2006.
