Album No. 9Release info:2010—Motéma Music—MTM-47 Availability:See KJ Denhert's site Ecto priority:Recommended Group members:KJ Denhert—vocals, guitars, backing vocals Guest artists:Etienne Stadwyjk—piano, keyboards (1, 2, 3, 4, 7) Produced by:KJ Denhert and Hal Winer Comments:KJ Denhert has made an album of mostly covers sound very personal indeed. Her warm vocals and guitar playing keeps a steady profile throughout. She brings real class to the oft-covered "Alfie" and "Pennies from heaven." Her velvety vocals are a treat on any song. "Let it go" is one of her original songs, and it's mellow and jazzy and very pleasant. An unexpected cover of "Smoke on the water"nonetheless works just fine. It's a confident, jazzy reading that really swings in a cool fashion. It's an exceptional and pleasant album. (stjarnell@yahoo.com) Thanks to stjarnell@yahoo.com for work on this entry.
