Some Heavy OceanRelease info:2014—Sargent House—SH118 Availability:Hello Merch Ecto priority:Highly recommended Group members:Emma Ruth Rundle—vocals, guitars, keyboards, flue, bass Guest artists:Chris Common—drums, percussion, bass, keyboards, vocals Comments:What a gorgeous, mournful, powerful album this is. It obsessed me for weeks and weeks with its emotive power, and how it feels like an emotional journey. Every time I play it I get caught up in it. Though she sounds a little like other artists (Bat for Lashes, Torres) her inventiveness is her own. I adore this album. (Neile) Marked For Death (2016)Release info:2016—Sargent House—SH 162 Availability:Wide Ecto priority:Highly recommended Group members:Emma Ruth Rundle—all guitars, vocals Guest artists:Andrew Clinco—drums, percussion Produced by:Emma Ruth Rundle and Sonny DiPerri Comments:Such a great album! Haunting and moody in all the best ways. Just as great (or perhaps even better) as Some Heavy Ocean. (Neile) On Dark HorsesRelease info:2018—Sargent House—SH197 Availability:Wide Ecto priority:Highly recommended Group members:Emma Ruth Rundle—vocals, guitars, flute Guest artists:Dylan Nadon—drums, percussion Produced by:Kevin Ratterman Comments:I didn't know how much I needed a new Emma Ruth Rundle disc until this came out. In sound it's very like her two previous albums, but as always the songwriting makes it distinct and dangerously full of emotion. Don't listen to it unless you're ready to get carried into a rich, beautiful, and often aching darkness. This is one of my top albums of 2018. Maybe *the* top. (Neile) |
