FurslideCountry of origin:U.S. Type of music generally:Alternative rock Status:Sole release, adventure (1998) See also:Wikipedia's entry for Furslide Comparisons:Other altrock bands of the late 1990s. Covers/own material:Own General comments:But, there's still more to Jen Turner's story! I'm not sure if any of you have heard of her new band, Furslide, but I strongly recommend their album adventure. It's very angst ridden and flaunting an obvious Hendrix influence, with raucous vocals sung angrily through firmly grit teeth. The lyrics express a definite feminine rage. the great thing about it is you really get to hear Jen let loose and squeeze out her own edgy guitar riffs. (RedWoodenBeads@aol.com) furslide appears to be the band of jennifer turner who, was the woman who played guitar on natalie merchant's carnival album and also toured with her. she was quite the tasteful player on the tour but, alas, seems not to have translated that on to her own record which is just a loud, raucous bar band. *sigh* (woj@smoe.org) Recommended first album:adventure is their sole release Recordings:adventure (1998) adventureRelease info:1998—Virgin Records Availability:Wide Ecto priority:Recommended for altrock fans Group members:Jennifer Turner—guitars and vocals Produced by:Nellee Hooper Comments:Odd combination of long guitar solos and trip-hoppy moods. Nice vocals by Jennifer Turner. Like a less annoying Skunk Anansie with good production. The seemingly endless guitar solos get on my nerves though. (stjarnell@yahoo.com) |
